Then one day this man from the Department of Veterans Affairs connected me with the VA Mental Health Services Team and they helped me to understand myself as a Veteran with a diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder. This became my foundation to accept the help I needed to continue on my path of recovery. While the journey hasn't been easy, I've been able to get the tools that make my journey a lot better.
